Curious how some handle drawing a fireplace, then having it illustrated correctly in 3d. 

 

Typically, I use an Isokern with brick veneer. Trying to figure out a way to add this as a symbol.

Lots of ways to do it. I use walls for the chase, walls and 3D solids for the fire box, an arch opening, etc to create open masonry types. And if I need a manufactured fireplace I use the symbols in SP's fireplace library or some I've imported.

Codes have not allowed open masonry type fireplaces here in CA for over a decade... only EPA listed fireboxes. I may have seen tears in the eyes of a mason working on his last masonry fireplace after that code change...
