I have nothing against post frame houses and am working on one right now that I am converting from a standard foundation, crawl space, platform frame house to post frame with 4 ply 2x6 PT glulam post 8' oc, 2x4 girts @ 24'' oc. inside and out, roof trusses 48'' oc with 2x4 purlins @ 24'' oc.,  in 24'' x 48'' dia concrete footing and a slab on grade...all covered w/ metal.

One story, 10' walls, 2500 + - sf conditioned space.

My client, who is also a builder, tells me that he "thinks" it will be cheaper.  I could see it if it were a rectangle, but this is not just a rectangle. I am curious what other members think.  Sf cost comparison if there is such a thing.

Nicer "custom'' subdivision homes are well into the  $250.00 sf and up.

We have done similar.

I would personally use ladder girts instead of girts inside and out. Works nicely for insulation and is ready for both inside and exterior finishes.

You are correct that the simpler shape would be some savings. I never had it work out in a more complex design.
