Me again...

I am trying to add a shed roof over my front porch (wrapping around a corner), but it is always showing up in 3D on ground level, instead of on the porch beams (which also are not visible in 3D?) The look/slope is perfect, it's just sitting on the ground.

I'm sure I'm making a stupid rookie mistake, but I've tried looking it up and I'm starting to get incredibly frustrated. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

How about an image in roof mode so we may see what the problem is?

I'm guessing your beams are not set at the correct height.

Also, the puck on the left probably needs to reference the beam, not the house wall.

I agree, just having a hard time figuring our how to change them? I feel like it's something very obvious that I'm missing...

OK, I saw that reply in another thread that I found, but I can't find where to make that change? When I'm editing the roof, I can't find anything that refers to 'reference'.

Edit your Beam and uncheck "Clip Beam to Roof". That should fix the beam not showing up in 3D. Also make sure the top of the beam is set to the top of the wall or at the height you want.

Grab the puck & drag it to the beam.

Rick

Thank you so much!!! That, along with one more tweak (I had drawn the beam on the main floor instead of roof plan) and I now have roof you can sit under!

Go to Drawing Mode Visibilities in Roof Mode and put a checkmark in "Plate Height".

The main floor would be the correct place for the beams to be. When you are in 'roof' mode make sure you have clicked on the "multiple floor roof" icon at the top
