Is it possible to edit a portion of a length of sill plate to go from 2x6 to 2x4?

I think what Yvon meant was use EDIT to change from 2" x 6" to 2" x 4". It seemed a much easier solution than what you did.

You could also go to the "Floor System Options" while in Floor mode and change the sill wdth prior to placing the sill. This way you wouldn't have to edit it after you placed it. It would alsso be set if you decided to add more sill plates later in the design.

I thought that changing the sill plate specification and using insert polygon edge may have worked, but that still used 2" x 6" as per the original edge.

Yes, that's what I meant. When cutting the sill plate, you can use the adjust tool to move the rim joist out of the way so you don't cut it and then reposition it. Or use the Ctrl L to select sill plate and use the Part Erase.I think what Yvon meant was use EDIT to change from 2" x 6" to 2" x 4". It seemed a much easier solution than what you did.
