Wall and opening issue

For the lowest level of a townhouse I have made/defined a wall such that the lower portion is concrete and the upper typical 2X6 siding,  with the transition height adjustable.  I did this to eliminate the step of a foundation with a whole separate drawing of knee walls.  My issue is that when placing and opening below my transition material it "cut's" the opening just fine but no matter what I do with the openings frame thisness or offset, my trim remains recessed.  See the example.  Thanks for any feedback

I try to keep my foundation separate from the walkout walls. Even though it is more work in some ways I get better results and it is more in line with how the structure would be built. I also have control over just showing the foundation or framing separated if needed easier than toggling on/off a bunch of stuff in 3D.
