Can't seem to find ridge vents anywhere to add to the drawings. Almost every house in my part of the world uses them. Did find two wall detail drawings that showed ridge vents.

I just select 'ridge cap' in roof options, but change the roofing to maybe Roofing 5. Then I surface copy the same roof surface to the cap Roofing 5, then i lower the ambient and increase the relief depth. It seems to work ok for me!
ps hope this darn visual shows up!!!

Thomas, thanks for the suggestion. What you suggested works but you end up with ridge vents in the hip rafters and on hip roofs and on the overhang on gable roofs. I will try to make a symbol as Chris suggested.
I have seen a number of plans done by auto cad with the vents placed properly, so I know it's possible. Maybe a suggestion to SoftPlan!

Yes, it is under how to make a 3D symbols
In 2014 it is Chapter 13
I used two solid pyramidal frustrum's to make mine but there are a number of ways to make them.
You could also create the profile and save it as banding I suppose.

you could also use one pyramidal frustum and edit it's 4 dimensions (top and bottom) as needed.
also edit it's LENGTH.
set the "offset" (it's a vertical offset) in the common tab when editing the frustum and
move it into position.
tip: you can get the top of ridge in 3d / softview by clicking on the "dimension" tab
and click "distance" and left click at the bottom of your building and
move the cursor up to the ridge, you'll see "vertical distance" in the window that opens
note: showing the same pyramidal frustum edited to different configurations.
you can edit the height, size of top and bottom
there's also a solid / pyramidal CONE
as well as many other solid for 3d use.
you also can edit the textures or copy and paste the textures (called surface)

note: i darkened the ends in photoshop for this closeup for this illustration.
but really no need to do this for a typical view of the whole building.
no one would really notice that the texture on the
face of the ridge vent is the same as the end.
