I have a custom Title Sheet that I use for all projects with designated fields for square footage info. I would like to have SoftPlan automatically populate these fields with the square footage data from my drawing files within the project. Is this possible?

Thanks.

add a note with the stamp @gfa to the Title Sheet. Get the Gross Floor Area from the area drawing and whn the drawing is in the model stack it will self populate.

Have you tried putting an area schedule on a new drawing and then add that new drawing to your plan set template?

This didn't work for me. I have square footages of multiple areas (Deck, Patio, Garage, First level etc.) All these show up fine on the Area Schedule on my Plan sheet, but I can't get it to show up on my custom cover sheet table.

I can place the area schedule on my cover sheet successfully, but I have a custom table that I want to use and I was hoping that I can some how have SoftPlan grab the SF figures and plop them in fields of my custom table.

I did reach out to the folks aat SoftPlan and this was their response.

 The Information Stamps (ie: @area1) would need to be placed directly on the drawing that contains the Area polygons in order to display a square footage. I'd suggest adding an Area Schedule directly to the Plan Set page (Notes>Area Schedule) or typing in the values manually.

Too bad there's not a workaround to just get the actual numbers and not the default schedule that comes with it.

Nate- Yeah, it is goofy with the stamp and limited to gross area.

The area function would be much more useful if we could show the SF wherever we wanted and it would act as a "live" value similar to openings schedules. Should be a set it up on the Title Block and forget about it kinda thing.

I calculate the area myself and have the "MODEL" field set to display the area in the project information box. The GFA is a little too flaky for my liking.

I have renamed the different areas the way I want them to display on the page.  Like Keith I don't like the way the GFA always works.  I have renamed one of the areas to "Total Finished".  Once I have measured each individual area, "Lower Level Finished", Main Level Finished", etc, I copy each of those areas to the side and edit it to "Total Finished".  I have an individual softplan drawing with just general notes and specifications that is added to each of my architectural pages.  On this drawing I have placed an area schedule that will auto-populate with all the areas I have calculated. (The drawing must be in the model stack in order to populate on the area schedule.)

Nate-
It will not work with a custom Title Block/custom Area Block…….at least I have not found a way.
You can use the default one and add to a drawing and model stack and it will populate.
Also-
It will not ‘mathematically’ add the sq footages together to get a total under roof. You will have to do another area on top of ALL other areas to get a ‘Total’ to populate in the default box.
It’s all a headache and I believe Soft Plan can do better.

Why will it not work with a custom title block? ... you can put ANY of the standard information stamps in a custom block.

@AREA#

@AREA_MODEL# and

@GFA

All work in a Custom Block. You just have to select your area's carefully and use the same area numbers consistently.

You can do ANYTHING in a custom title block that you can do in the standard title blocks.

I think it has to do with the fact my Title Blocks are not located in the Title Block Folder, but I am unsure.
Do you know a way for the info to be picked up from one SPD file to another?
I type in the stamp code but I get 0.0 sq ft because the stamp code is not located on the Floor Plan SPD file. Tech support said there is no way.....
