Hello All,
What is the best way to create odd shaped linen shelves and have them appear like a closet shelf in the way it is shaded on the plan?
Thank you,

How odd do you mean Jerry?
If you can't make it with the rod and shelf tool, then I'd use a countertop and edit the thickness - you can also edit the texture so it shows exactly like the shelves in the 3D too - You can make that any shape you want.

What I did, with the help of Crystal form tech support, is create a solid polygon at the correct elevation and then use PAINT - SOLID with the correct color and opacity. This did leave ruffly a 1/2" gap on one edge for some reason which I have sent back to tech support for an answer on. The next issue then becomes copying the shelves down multiple times which is a real pain! is there any way to do a multiple copy in the "Z" direction easily? I had to copy the item (4) times over then edit the elevation then move back. Way to many steps to create a one of a kind item multiple times.

If you use the countertop it will automatically shade properly on plan.
Copying .... May be easier to drag a copy in the 3D model and then correct the offsets. Changed my mind - copy sideways in plan, edit the offsets and then move back (snap) to the correct position.
Can you show us the final shape that you used?

Acknowledging that the SOLID will absolutely work, and the countertop will work. What shape are we using where the actual linen shelf won't work? It will follow curved walls.

never played with curved "rod & shelf" but it does follow curved walls.
the plus is that it's easy to put as many stacked shelves as you want.
rods don't seem to curve very well.
the minus is it takes some manipulating to get the shelves to follow
the walls and also to you have to play with the ends joining cleanly.
simple curved / patterns are fairly easy. more complicated curved
take some time.

Didn't have any problems with it following the walls. Just snapped it to corners. The major curve didn't snap to the wall, and stayed straight, but adjusting the lollipop to snap to the wall, cleaned up the curve properly. Didn't have any problem with the ends. This whole shelf is a single entity, so I'm not following the "ends joining" issue.
