Couple of questions please.

I would like to use board & batten siding in gable over brick below but I need the b&b siding set back 4 1/2" from out of brick. Is it possible to do this with an additional wall or is there another method for accomplishing this?

Would anyone have a 8" o.c. b&b material they would like to share? If not, any suggestions on creating one for the gables?

Thank you,

You can use a hidden wall in the gable.

How's this look ... What colour do you need? I chose one close to the colour you showed, but have others. This is only about 7", but you can always stretch it horizontally

When I tried to use what I presume to be a hidden wall the image is what I come up with. The soffit and return roof do not run back to the hidden wall. Is there a way to correct the roof at this location where it ran to the brick previously to now run to the hidden wall siding? If not, I think I'll go ahead and get sick now trying to redraw the roof.

Keith,

The second color down on the left side is the one I am looking for.

Thank you,

Jerry, you'll have to reference the roof to the hidden wall, not the one below it, and adjust the overhang accordingly. The soffit etc. are based on the face of the wall it's referenced too.

I'll dig through my colours and see what I have that's near, I'll post it tomorrow. If I can't find one close, I'll try and make one for you.

Thanks Keith,

Is there a way to correct the existing roof so that I do not have to redraw the roof from scratch? Or do I need to redo the entire roof?

Also when you have a hidden wall above the brick wall below how do you force the roof to use the hidden wall and not the brick wall during roof creation?

Thanks,

Never mind, I made one instead, based on your colour. It should show exactly 8" wide.

Just in case the forum does something odd with this JPG, it should be 128 x 200 pixels.

Let me know how it works out for you.

Here's a screenshot of it tiled.

If you go into roof mode, you should be able to make the "lollipop" snap to the hidden wall instead of the other one. You may have to adjust the lower one sideways to make it snap to the hidden one, and then adjust it back. You shouldn't have to redo the roof, just edit the edge.

Here's one with some woodgrain, although it has changed the colour a little ....

Take your pick!

Not too ecstatic about that one. Will play around tomorrow night and see about recolouring the woodgrain and see what I can come up with.

I do some graphic design/digital artwork as a hobby.

The textures are made using a combination of FILTER FORGE (which I suggested people download when it was free) and Xara Photo & Graphic Designer (which isn't free). I'm not too good as an artist, probably my technical background that makes me want to do everything exactly, but give me squares and textures, and I can produce some really average works.

Okay, this has to be a slightly bigger texture because of the amount of grain and I didn't want the pattern matching to be too obvious. However it is still completely seamless

The base texture for the grain is the colour that you specified, but the grain changes the look a little. See how this works for you.

Board and Batten - Grain 2.jpg

Again, the boards are at exactly 8" o.c. - Just click on the attachment to view it full size and click save ... it should be exactly 512 x 512 pixels.

Let me know how it works.

........

And anyone else who's interested, if you download it, let me know how it works for you too.

Just increased the shadows to make the battens stand out a little more ... Somewhat more dramatic, I think I like it better. What does anyone think? Too much? I could tweak it forever, and not be able to decide what to do for the best!

Agreed, just tried it on an elevation, doesn't look too bad.
