I place a 1/" x 3/4" plate offset 3/4" down, invisible, so I have a reference for edge of balcony on a 2nd floor overlooking room below. What do others do?

I just draw the floor where I want it. I show the outline with a polygon on the plan. The use of a wall offset down with only the outer wall line visible is a good idea too as long as it stays put.
