Forgive me if this has been asked before I did try and search first.

I there a way to load softplan with custom settings and file locations etc. based on something like which clients project I'm working on?

For example if Client A has shared a dropbox location with me that contains there custom symbols and I want to use that as the system setting for symbol location when working on their project but only use default location when working on clients B's projects. could I use a command line option when opening softplan? or is my only choice to load a softplan option backup each time I switch clients?

Thanks in advance, let me know if I'm not being clear enough etc.

Anything in your libraries should be available for any Projects. I think your'e talking about "Drawing Templates" where you may have different dimensioning, pen settings, wall definitions, ect. for a certain client. Below are some links about drawing templates. Once you figure them out I think you'll love them.

Bill Wimberley that has SoftPlanTuts helped me with drawing templates. You should join his site.

Thank you for your reply.  I am familiar with templates and that is not what I am looking for.

I am looking for a way to change the texture/symbol/etc. library location at launch without having to go and change them manually every time.

So far the only way I have found that works is to make a second folder for softplan with it's own .exe file and run it from there.  I'd rather be able to call softplan with a different cfg or ini file in the command line to change the settings.

To clarify why I want to do this and not just use the default libraries all the time:

I have a client who has several SP drafters working for them and he wants to use a highly customized set of symbols and textures that we can all pull from. I recommended a dropbox folder that we can all point SP to.

However when I do work for my other clients I don't want to be pulling from these folders for obvious reasons.

So I want to be able to launch SP with Client A libraries or Client B or default etc.

Thanks,

John

Separate installs- just make sure and name them something that you will remember.
