I have been using Nuance Power pdf (Now Kofax) to generate my prints for years.   However file sizes for D-Size pages are just shy of 1 mb per page.  I am also able to 'optimize'  and 'Make Searchable' these documents.  However it will only do that to pages up to 22" wide.    Just wrapped up a project where the pdf file size is about 30mb which is much too large to email.   Not everyone has a grip on working with my Dropbox links.

My question is, anyone know how I can reduce the size of my pdf files?  Or just generate them smaller?  I have tried generating the pdf's at 150 dpi vs 300 dpi, but that actually affects the text quality.

Thanks All,

Neil

What I've found is the multi-format notes and some drawings with lots of small line segments in symbols seem to create the larger files. It may be worth experimentation or looking at a program that will compress the files. It can be problematic. We use Basecamp for project management, thus allowing owners, contractors, etc. to download files at any size. But, email and sharing links can trouble some folks.

The other alternative is using WETRANSFER.COM to email drawings.

They will "email" up to 2GB for free.

I think Mark is going the right direction with his advice.  I typically let SoftPlan create my PDF's for me.  I use Plan Sets and then just right click on the plan set and export to PDF.  Never had too much of a problem with it.
