I'm using SP 2012.

When in Softview Options there are menus for "Extraction Options," "Setup Options," "Output Options" and "Mode Options."

The menus for each of these options seem to be exactly the same.  So my question is:  What is the difference between these menus in how they effect the Softview pictures?

Thanks,

Paul

I am using Version 2014 but they were the same.

Selecting any of these options from the icons will take you to the same list of "model options". (top arrow in attached picture)

However it brings you to the more specific selection in the options list (second arrow) and in the right hand pane the functions which can be changed (bottom arrow).

If the selection in the right hand pane does not change then there is a system issue.

I agree with Steve, if you get the same options for each menu selection, you have serious issues. The base menu (Model Options) is the same one, but clicking  "Extraction Options," "Setup Options," "Output Options" and "Mode Options." should put you in different sections each time.

The one that looks the same mostly is MODE OPTIONS, but you are defining in each one, how Softplan reacts in each of the MODES - Watercolour, Textured, Rendered etc.

Steve,

The  menus for "Extraction Options," "Setup Options," "Output Options" and "Mode Options" do have the right hand menu as you describe (see picture below), but whatever I specify in one menu option (say Output Options, for example) will automatically show up in the other options also.   This is why I was wondering what the distinction was.

You'll also note in my picture that no matter what menu option I pick, the "dialogue" box just says "Setup Options" rather than the specific option I'm picking (unlike yours, which says "Model Options").

Furthermore, I don't have a Model option, but a Mode option.  Maybe this is a difference between v2014 and v2012 ??

Would like to know if someone out there with v2012 has this same situation.

Paul, it IS all the same menu. The various headings - "Extraction Options," "Setup Options," "Output Options" and "Mode Options" - Just take you to different parts of the same menu. As I said earlier.

Keith,

Sorry, I just think I'm missing something here:  If the "Category" menu and its sub-menus [bottom picture of my 10/29 response] for each option (Setup, Output, etc) is identical, why even have the different options [top picture of my 10/29 response].  Why not just click on Options from the ribbon menu on top and have the Category menu pop up?

What's the point of having the different options?  Do you understand what I'm asking?

Yes, I understand what you are asking ..

As far as I am concerned, one OPTIONS menu will work fine. I think that all the SUB-MENU options are to save you the extra (one click) navigation. That's the only reason I can see.

Okay - so it's simply an alternate route for menu choices.

Thanks for taking the time to clarify.
