Has anyone had trouble with vault ceilings not showing a vertical pitch on a gable end wall?  At least for me V2024 will not apply drywall to a vertical pitch.

Also when adding a vault or tray ceiling, the truss bottom chords will not adjust to the drywall.  Maybe I'm missing a setting somewhere, didn't seem to have this issue with the previous version and could not find reference to any of these issues on the forum.

Use a vertical hip edge for the gable to fill in with the ceiling material on a vault. Not sure if you are running trusses before your ceiling, but try a clean up. If the ceiling is in place prior to drawing trusses, they should work. It gets a little touchy though, so more complicated roofs and ceilings have a hard time modeling correctly.

OK, so I got the trusses to frame to the vaulted ceiling/ drywall, but the trusses still blow through the tray ceiling. And the vertical pitch drywall still will not show on gable walls. Extending the wall surface extends both interior and exterior to the ceiling so that's not a good option.

In my experience the tray ceiling probably will not clean up correctly with the trusses. Unfortunately I've never gotten that to work as one would want. A workaround may be in order. I often will model the basic trusses in SketchUp and import if I need to show them more correctly.

Thanks Mark - good call on the vertical hip edge. I don't remember having to do that in the past, but it did work.

I deleted the trusses at the tray ceiling and then reframed. Still no luck on that issue. SoftPlan has made some great improvements with roofs in general, especially on the soffit and fascia areas. But complicated roof framing is still difficult to manipulate. Roof framing always wants to snap to adjacent roofs or planes especially when eaves overlap.

Yep, it has a long way to go. We rarely do simple enough roofs that SP can handle framing. Even walls are messy. I've barely used 2024 because of the glitches. I am hoping to get into it on regular projects soon. Definitely improved from where it was, but room for improvement. It does not frame how it would most likely be done on the job and some crews cannot think for themselves it seems. So, if we are showing something, it better be right or well noted. Details have their place, but a framing model should be closer to reality if we want to trust it.
