I have always just drawn this wall detail on the line drawings and never really tried to figure it out in 3D, would love a good way to implement into the drawing so I can show in my 3D.

Wanting the taper the wall out to meet the soffit at the gable corners.

I have attached an image. Attached File  Gable detail.png   252.62KB   1 downloads

There's two ways you can achieve this, the simplest way is to add a wedge solid and flip it so that it is in a similar orientation. Adjust the dimensions accordingly to meet the spec measurements and texture the solid to match the exterior brick. This will work in most cases, but I do see that there is a stepped profile along the face of the slant. What you could do as an alternative is go into Interior Mode and use a crown molding or a banding and apply it to reference the exterior of the house. Then you can add a pre-defined profile that matches the best or a custom profile with those stepped details and offset the trim to be at your ideal height. Apply the texture and it should result in something close to what you are wanting for 3D. I would recommend using the second method since if you need to have the profile wrap an exterior corner, it may become tricky to align the wedges at a mitered corner but the Interior Trim options miter automatically. For your example you would simply adjust the edge of the trim line to the edge of your wall to be flush at the wall front like the reference image.

Prior to adding it i would generate a front elevation/and save it....then on the front elevation trace out the design and save as a profile.  go to the floor plan and sketch where needed then offset as needed.

This is a pretty quick method.   Then if you dont like the profile sketch a new one and just replace the profile you dont like....i do it all the time in front of clients to fine tune the design.

Awesome, thanks guys. Allen, being that i already have several line drawings of the detail, it made it pretty quick with profile method.  I'll get it fine tuned later, but this was great and close enough to help them visualize with the 3D pics.
