I am still pretty new to SoftPlan.  I inadvertently shifted the foundation horizontally on a 2 story plan I am working on.

I have tried using reference points, using the Move Block - Link Floors approach, using Move Block  -Select Move Point, etc. and I cannot seem to get these floors lined up again.

Any ideas?  I have spent an afternoon on this.  I would have thought it should have taken seconds.

Thank you for your input.

check to see if you have a "recovery" file of the floor plan "BEFORE" you block moved it.

if you don't and if you can

open up the floor plan you block moved

than go to FILE / OVERLAY

and your other plans will show.

open up the floor plan below or above the one you block moved which is

most similar to the one you moved.

than "move" the walls on your moved floor plan to where they should be.

As long as the reference points (use the CIRCULAR ONE), are in the same position on the plan on every floor plan, the model should stack properly. Just DELETE all the reference points and then put new reference points at common locations.

Keith -

Thank you.  I had tried the reference points earlier today but must have been doing something wrong.  This fixed the issue in seconds.

keith is correct when stating that if you put the top (circle w/cross hairs) ref pt

in the same place on each floor, those ref pts will stack on top of each other.

i was explaining how to get the floor plans to stack on top of each other

without having the ref pts which you shouldn't have to do it you

"DON'T"  >  "block move" any floor plans once you've done a "save as" of

the first floor plan you draw and than NAME them.

NOTE: you can BLOCK MOVE the first floor plan your draw anywhere you want as

long as you BLOCK MOVE  "it" in ONE DIRECTION at a time

(meaning:  DON't  > UNlock the cursor when moving).

once you "save as" any other floor plan from that one original,

DON'T "block move" them or the first one either.

if anyone would like to explain why you don't want to block move any of

the floor plans that you save from the first floor plan you drew

or block move the first floor plan you drew once you start saving other floor

plans for that matter.

tip: think of floor systems, roof plans and other components for that matter

and where they'd end up if you start block moving things nilly willy

if you block move them all over the place and you want to MERGE THEM

without the use of ref pts.

trust me.  it's just better to NOT block move. floor plans once you've saved as

from the first floor plan.

btw,

i've speaking more from a "multi-drawing" person kind of guy than a "plan set" person

since I haven't begun to learn plan sets >>>>>  YET

Thanks Randy -

I was Block Moving the floors and, just as you said, it didn't go well.  I made a mess of things.  Using the reference points did work.  As I recall, I originally copied the circular reference point and pasted from drawing to drawing.  That did not work.  Drawing each one individually on each floor solved the problem.

Thanks for the info.

rich,

i also

copy the ref pt from one drawing

and

paste and hold position onto the other drawings

in the floor stack.

this does work.

I never have any issues with BLOCK MOVING plans Randy. I do it regularly. In my opinion that's what the reference points are for - And as discussed previously don't use SAVE AS. Obviously whatever works best for us as individuals is the way to go.

I must admit that I don't use copy and paste on the reference points. It's just as quick to put new points on all the drawings.

A thing you have to be careful when you copy and paste is that you must be in Default Building Option and Layer otherwise it will copy on a layer or option and may not be active, so it wouldn't work. Also, I have found that if your Circular reference point is not visible of each level (ex, if "Show Non-Printable Items" is unchecked), then it won't align your floors.
