Thank you Warner, this seems to have resolved it. drawings that I opened while there was this problem are still not show the fonts and dimensions however the rest are fine. 

Steve, under dimension options do you have offset small dimensions checked?

Try downloading the Font installer and installing it then rebooting.

I have also tried opening some sample drawings and the same thing is happening in SP 16. I opened my old SP 14 version and everything is working well.

Thanks for your replay Keith. I did try changing the font which gave no correction. it is also the numbers so Im guessing it has to do with assignmet of some kind. I have attached a sample .

This is what I am getting. I have tried changing the font in character setup/system options to Arial and then Sphand to no avail.

Change the font to a Softplan fornt or Arial or a similar simple generic font.

  After trying to print to PDF my drawing letters and numbers are unreadable, that goes for all my drawings past and present. Any suggestions
