What format are you getting from your Architect?

"Extracting" is for separating the contents of a ZIPPED folder. In Softplan you just "open" an .spp or .spd file. If you want to import a different file type, such as .dwg, it really is as Steve said above it's "as simple as it can be". You simply 'import' the dxf or dwg and softplan converts it into a file type that it reads. 

As for your question as to whether softplan "easily export and import plans from/to different computers" I'm not really sure what you are asking. Can you transfer a plan to a different computer then yes, just email, thumb drive or however you want to get it to the other computer. No big deal. If you are asking about whether you can import a .dwg, do some work on it and then export it back to whomever as a .dwg or an .spd or .spp then YES, you most certainly can. I have done just that countless numbers of times.

Hi Steve. Thanks for letting me know it's really a simple process. In looking at the trial version it looks like you just open a project, click on "File" tab at top left on screen, click on "Export" in "File" drop-down selection list, and then click on DWG or DXF.

In your opinion, which is better... DWG or DXF???

The architect I am working with is being very unhelpful, so I really appreciate all the help I can get!

Importing and exporting .dwg or .dxf files is as simple as it can be.

I have never had any difficulty with import and export processes or sharing Softplan files with other Softplan users.

The trial version allows you to have 'hands on' with the basic Softplan functionality.

If Export/import cannot be done in the trial version, than that is not very helpful for someone who is trying to determine if SoftPlan will fit their requirements, especially when one of those requirements is being able to easily export and import plans from/to different computers.

Does anyone know if the ability to easily export and import plans from/to different computers exists in the non-trial versions of SoftPlan? If yes, how is it easily done?

I don't think you can import or export drawings using the trial version.

I have an architect who has my house plans on his computer and I want to Extract the plans from his computer and Import them on to my computer. I just loaded the trial version of SoftPlan and tried to extract the sample “Drawing a House.spp”, but when I click of “File”, “Export”, “DWG.File”… the “DWG.File” is grayed out (protected) so I couldn’t actually click on it to do the extract.  

I have never used SoftPlan so I pretty much know very little!!! I was trying to do the sample “Extract” on the trial version I have loaded on my computer because the architect does not seem to know how to do an extract from his computer, and provide me the files that I would need to load onto my trial version of SoftPlan on my computer.

Can anyone help me with how I can extract the “Drawing a House.spp” plan, and then import the extracted file back into my computer as a new “Test Plan”?
