If I turn off the roof by unchecking the Display check box,
how do I make the roof visible again later?
There's nothing in the 3D view that I can rt-click on to change its visibility.

you can open the
the PROJECTS / SAMPLE DRAWING (any one of them)
and go thru all the different types of renderings such as
visible line, illustrated, clay model, textured, etc
and than go to FILE / MATERIAL file / SAVE and give it a "NAME" like TEXTURED sample house, WATER COLOR sample house
and so on
than in one of your projects when it's ready to be modeled, open up the model with all your floor plans under MODEL in
the NAVIGATION window, go to FILE (TOP LEFT) / MATERIAL FILE / LOAD and pick one of your saved material files.

You only really need to do one and set it up how you like it. Then you save it as a material file and can use it again. I have a few for stick frame or special colors or interiors, etc.

Reducing the opacity of textures may help. The attached example has the roof components off and a reduction of ceiling opacity.

Thanks!
I was hoping for a much easier interface. It seems like it could be as simple as providing some visibility toggles for certain assemblies (roofs, floors, ceilings), plans in the model, etc.

Yes, you can UNCHECK the DISPLAY box(es) in the MATERIAL TEXTURE EDITOR (TIP: If you click on the box that says "DISPLAY" you can highlight them all the individual rows, and change them all with one click)
or UNCHECK the display of SPECIFIC ITEMS in the SURFACE EDIT Dialog
If you want to turn off the display of a full storey, the easiest way is temporarily REMOVE it from the MODEL.

This may be a basic question, but I can't find information in Help, online, or on training DVDs. Is there a way to customize what items are visible on Presentation Views and/or 3D modes? For instance, once I apply a roof to a model, is there a way to then ever view the 3D model without the roof being visible? I know that my current Presentation View does not show the roof, but is there a way to toggle what is visible and what is not? Even choosing whether you want to see the 2nd story of a 2-story house. Is there way to turn it off?
Thanks.
