I am using SoftPlan 2014. My garage roof is taller than the main house roof pitch. How do I make the main house roof invert the peak of the taller garage roof? The main house is 6:12, the garage roof is 8:12? Thank you.

You can't make it do it itself, you have to get a little creative ...
Draw with lines where the roof will invert, then add a hole to delete the parts of the roof you don't want ... a diamond shape (mine's square since I couldn't be bothered changing the pitches) ... then use a roof plane to fill in the missing triangle.

don't have 2014 on my computer any more. only 2016 & 2018
i did this in 2018,
right roof at 8 pitch and left roof at 6 pitch.
procedure used:
first drew all the wall,
house (on left) at 24' wide,
garage (on right) at 36' wide,
did an AUTO ROOF using 6" pitch (could of used 8" pitch) - set this in "roof options" in roof mode.
all i did to get the correct pitches on each roof was to EDIT the hip edges as needed.

to softplan users, if you have v2014 on your computer, let us know if it works in 2014

Randy, It only works like that with a reasonably simple roof. it won't do that if you have two roofs with an intersection. Sometimes AUTO ROOF just won't do it.

your right keith.
i suggested this way just in case he didn't try this procedure in v2014.
roofs started working really good in 2014, compared to previous versions.
i learns SP in v10 with tom roman as my instructor, talk about aggravation with roofs !
i also learned a lot of new swear words from tom.
