This is sort of a question and a suggestion in one.

I do drafting/estimating in a retail lumber yard, and often get asked "what do you have for modern single-story plans around 1500 SQFT", etc.

Every plan I do is different, and most people want a few examples to look at. Plans online often aren't designed with basements, mechanical rooms are too small, not designed for large families.

I could obviously maintain a personal record system of plans, their square footage, style, etc...but seems impractical for my line of work, and also I'm always short on time.

It seems it would be relatively easy for Softplan's homescreen to have filters to search by GFA, and user-defined tags such as "modern", "colonial", "single-story", "2-story", etc.

Is there something already built-in that I haven't come across, or any other suggestions?

Thanks,
Derk

Look under File > Search Projects

You will find most of what you need.

GFA, # of stories, # bedrooms & baths etc are already established entry fields.

I would use 'elevation' field under project information to enter the primary tag for each project.

Try entering several styles in the field and see what it returns after a specific search for one of the tags.

If needed you could use other fields that might not be used such as "fax"

This is why I ask the dumb questions -- that's exactly what I was hoping for. Always just looked right past the 'Search Projects' like it wasn't even there! Thank you!!
