I meant to say "Not show up in an overhang". The glow is there but not the pot light

Don't know ... I've always created a small ceiling with the same pitch as the roof and raised it up accordingly.

put in a 'ceiling" and "adjust" in to the roof overhang.

i presume you want a flat horizontal  soffit so

the ceiling will work fine.

than put the pot light in in the electrical mode.

NOTE: you'll have to edit the "offset" of the pot lights

to a positive number >  trial and error.  have 3d / softview open while doing this part.

NOTE: mine didn't want to cleanup to the ceiling

but maybe it will.

btw,  you can also make the pot lights slope to a pitched ceiling

My can lights show up in the soffit without a "ceiling".

If they are in a flat soffit, then yes, they can be offset from the floor as any other item. If they are in a sloping (gable) soffit - which for some unknown reason I automatically assumed - then to slope them with the roof, I don't see any other option than to create a ceiling - unless someone knows different.

yesterday they didn't work in the soffit so that's why i added the ceiling.

today i took the ceiling out and they worked with the soffit >

go figure.

warren,

I still can't get the pot lights to show up in the soffit without

a workaround.

could you explain the "exact" procedure that you use.

I use the 4" can lights in my soffits.

After I place the can lights, you will need to adjust the Offset. This can be done one at a time or as a group.

If you have a "Rake Soffit"

You will need to check "Slope with Reference"

warren,

ok,  so you still have to do a workaround.

doesn't do it automatically.

Sorry I should have said that i know how to put lights in o/h, ceilings, slopes, etc.... what I am having problems with is that there is no light (Fixture) visible in the 3D mode. The glow of the light is there but the fixture isn't no matter what height I adjust too. I did have trouble with all the symbol with the 2016 version but I copied the 2014 symbols into 2016. All seem to work ok except the lights.. I most be missing something .... just not sure what.

Thanks all for your input.
