I'm new to Softplan and am finding setting floor to floor datums frustrating. Is there a simpler way to adjust floor to floor heights other than changing wall heights? I would love to be able to pick the floor and set a datum height but can't find a way to do that. When I change all wall heights on a plan (which is so tedious) and then use Cleanup, I find that the floor above or below still hovers, unattached to the changed walls.

You need to set a common reference point using the circle reference tool. Pick a point common to each drawing like an inside face of an exterior wall corner (watch out for cantilevers). Softplan will use this point as the vertical end of one floor and the vertical start of the next in the model. This only works with the circle reference. To speed up the setting of wall heights use the "select type" or "select group". If you hover over a DW/2X4/DW wall section, right click and "select type" it will highlight all of the DW/2X4/DW walls in the drawing which you can edit all at the same time. If you had chosen "select group" Softplan would have selected all of the walls in that drawing and you can edit them as a group.

You need to learn all about the Circular Reference point. That will fix your issues.

There are 10 types of people in this world ....... Those who understand binary, and those who don't.
