I have been using Softplan for a few years, on small personal project, with very little interior details. I finally decided to spend the time to learn the software and my first question is, from Room mode, also Interior Mode, how do I access the new profile I added to the Crown Mouldings Folder?

noel,

what version are you using.

i understand you've already drawn the profile of the crown and saved that.

now you can't see it in the crown molding  library.

try instructions below and follow exactly.

=============================================================

in v2016.

btw, i tried to duplicate your problem and added a NEW profile to the crown molding library

which i had done many time in previous versions.  had the same issue your having.

i could always get it to show up after doing a few things,  it's been a few years.

when creating new custom profiles, you won't usually have this issue.

if you call tech, ask them about it and maybe do a write up on the procedure

so we can all copy it for future use.  ask them why does it work when creating

some custom profiles and not with all.

go to HELP in softplan  (top of page)

use the "search" tab and type in

"adding profiles to library"

see if that helps.

if you still can't see it where you put it,  let us know.

sometimes you have to take an extra step or two to

make sure it gets in the library,  i never could understand

why that happens on occasion with certain profiles & libraries.

most of the time it ends up where you put it and you can see it..

other times you have to go thru a few extra steps.

i've had to go thru those steps a few times but haven't

had to do it in a long time and forget the exact procedure

when they don't behave properly.

if you can't get the answer your looking for,

you might want to send a ticket to softplan tech or call them up.

btw, when i mention sending a ticket, that's if you have the (+) version.

otherwise, call them.

SoftPlan Technical Support

Telephone: 519-886-9750

PS,

could you share the procedure with us when you get it ?

btw,  most of the time when you draw a specific profile, it's

be in the library where it's supposed to be. i have no

idea why with some profiles & libraries, it doesn't work that way.

could you ask tech about this ?

Thank Randy, I will contact technical support and I'm using Softplan 2016

Just to clarify, I can see the profile if I go to the tab,  Detail , profile, crown moulding.  But in room and Interior mode I have no access to it.

After you made the profile did you add it to Finishing Options/Crown Mold ?

All comments are my opinion only and may or may not be correct

Hi Chris , after I made the profile, I added it to system library/profile/ crown moulding.  How do you add it to Finishing Option/crown moulding?

system options / finishing options / crown mold options..

there are 100 crown mold options... each has a "profile" assigned to it..

attach your new profile to one of the crown mold designations..

this has always seemed a rather non-intuitive system...

thanks people for rejuvenating the ol' memory.

that procedure of creating the profile and than

having to go back into system and add it to finishing options never made sense.

it should of automatically been put into it's final resting place.

than again, i don't know programming so maybe it's not as easy as it seems.

I must say thanks to Randy, Chris and Tom for your quick response. I added the profile to Finishing option, and now I have access to the profile.  This is a great forum.
