I have a front porch slab that I want to run to foundation overlay, but it snaps to the overhead beam supporting the roof over the porch.  If I turn off clean up, it snaps to the outside of the beam, but will not let me drag it a few inches past that point.  This should not be this difficult, should it?  Why would the slab snap to ANYTHING (let alone a beam 9' above it) once clean up is unchecked?  Any ideas?

Dave,

I am not sure why it is doing that and I agree it should not.  If it is not an enclosed porch, ie. screened in or other enclosure I usually draw it as a patio in site mode.

Maybe this will help.  as you can  extend the patio past the building line with no trouble.

Just use a solid.

It has always snapped to the beam. Drives me nuts. However, I am able to adjust to the correct location as needed.
Make sure your slab is “level 2”

A suggestion was put in years ago to correct the slab to beam issue, but alas, it has not been rectified.

Try dragging from some point on the edge of the slab, away from the reference circle, with snap off.
