Filter forge is a Standalone application (and Photoshop Compatible plugin), that generates graphic filters and SEAMLESS TEXTURES. You can download over 11000 filters and textures, and use them for your own purposes. You can also create your own filters.

Make your own wood floors, leather, tiles ... the list goes on and on .. You can easily export any texture you can create as a Texture to use in Softplan.

For Example ... Seamless lattice

Lattice - Light.png

I do a lot of graphics and graphic design for fun and have been interested in Filter Forge for a while, but could not justify the expense, but Filter Forge are giving away FULL LICENCED VERSIONS of FILTER FORGE 3 to Advanced Photoshop Magazine readers at this link ....

https://www.filterfo...istration.html

.... Just fill in the form.

"We offer a free license for Filter Forge 3.0 Standard Edition to Advanced Photoshop Magazine readers. You can download the trial version of Filter Forge 3.0 using the link below. To convert your trial copy of the software into a registered Standard Edition you need a license key. To request a free license key for Filter Forge 3.0 please fill in the following form. Note the key is valid for Filter Forge 3.0 only and won't work with any other Filter Forge version."

DON'T KNOW HOW LONG THIS IS GOOD FOR, BUT FOR ME IT WAS TOO GOOD TO PASS UP

If you click on "buy" they are selling Version 4 for only $79.

It might be worth it. Seems like a Version t5 is soon to be released.

Just noticed that I am labeled as a "newbie".

Lol - I guess starting with Version 5 I might be!

But I have never met anyone who used V1-V4 except for the Montags.

Any idea how to change my status?

Steve, you're a newbie until you make 10 posts. Newbie related to forum status, not Softplan status.

Don't know what the difference is in the versions, but I'm working on the principle that if I can understand version 3, and it works for me, then I may upgrade. I'm having a lot of trouble getting my head around actually designing filters. However using the existing filters and seamless textures is child's play, and they are very powerful.

Steve,

The deal is even better than that. If you download and register Filter Forge 3, you can upgrade to Filter Forge 4 for $50.00

Not sure how many of you have downloaded filter forge, but to those who haven't you are missing out on a great complement to Softplan.

For example: One of my issues is that I can never get grass to look right. There are too many repeat patterns.

Using a filter forge grass filter, you can make your own seamless grass texture that has never seen a blade of grass ... Each filter has up to 30,000 variants, so I'm sure that you can configure grass to your liking.

Maybe not this one though ... it looks like a lime green carpet in Softplan ... However, there are many more variants to try. I'll definitely make one work to my liking eventually, and have fun trying.

This one's a little better ... (this is preset #9)

Grass 2.png

This particular grass filter has 9 standard presets - and of course you can also save your own favourites as user presets.

"No grass was harmed in the making of these textures".

Installed the Free Download, ..

I like the ability to filter renderings, .. has some of the abilities found in Photoshop for tweaking images, .. ‘and the price’ is unbeatable, .. I’m a fan

.. this rendering was tweaked using the 'dreamy' filter, .. started with the default and adjusted the available controls.

.. (all aspects in picture are Softplan symbols, shapes and textures, .. except the cloud background image, .. ) ..

.. invariably, someone will have a simpler solution.

, .. and yes, I agree with you that the 'Create Filter' mode will take a few  'hit and miss' attempts to figure out the logic behind it all, ..

.. of course, I could read the help section on that topic, .. but who "reads the directions first before trying to assemble" ;)

There's a help section? Who knew!

They should have some of the ability of Photoshop ... after all you are creating photoshop filters.

Steve

Yes, .. once saved as an image file in Softplan, .. , .. Filter Forge can open various image file formats, as Keith says

.. invariably, someone will have a simpler solution.
