Possible hiccup when saving rendering image

I am saving hi res images of a rendering...

the "background" image of sky and clouds seems to be missing if I save to a TIF or a PNG..

seems OK if I save to a JPEG or BMP..

Both PNG and TIF file formats support ALPHA channel transparency (JPG and BMP do not). Ensure that Background Alpha is UNCHECKED
