is there a way to remove all rafters from softlist after stick framing it. When I click on a rafter it just wants to edit them as individuals

edit the stick framing in roof mode and select softlist and uncheck sofflist on one rafter and then do a repeat block edit on the others and all will change,

 

also probably can program them to not showup ever in softlist, not sure of that but probably.
