I don't think I asked how it could be done, but if some one could give me a head start it would be appreciated.

You can add a profile to the ends of the rafters, that either mimics the whole thing, or actually profile the ends to the 4½" inches you want and then add a solid underneath them. I think you may have to create the solid as a solid polygon and then create it and reorient it as a symbol with the symbol wizard.

Ok.  I didn't think of a profile for reducing the fascia...Good call.  I associate them with mostly concave arc's.  Easy to create one for each pitch.
