How does one go about to create the gable overhangs shown in the attached photo?

Gable end roof lollypops attached to phantom or hidden walls to the inside of the home.  Have fun!  after you do one, the others are easy.  I usually start with a line determining the angle i'm looking for then make the phantom wall right on the line.

One method I use for a prow roof (pointed gable) when I have a flat gable wall is to set the gable overhang to the point distance and then cut triangle holes in the roof to get the shape. One problem I experienced with this is that the soffit does not render underneath when I use this method. I would prefer this technique than trying to add extra hidden walls, layering them, etc, but I wonder if anyone else used this method I am explaining and had the same issue. I may have to use hidden walls if the missing soffit can't be fixed anytime soon.

Without knowing the guts of the programming, you would think they could make roof edges editable similar to top of wall -- with break points, and each section of the edge having a "top length" and "bottom length".
