The building options work for the ENTIRE MODEL ... The idea is that you produce a set of drawings for each option. The building options should be set BEFORE the drawings get to the plan set.

In plan sets you may set "Building Options" "Use Custom Visibility" (see attachment) for plans and never have to worry about the model again (for plans).
Plans are ready to publish at all times.
For annotated views and 3D views we have to RESET set the building options in the model before publishing each version of options.
You better be real careful reviewing you published work for small differences between option versions.

To me that can lead to publishing the wrong version, it's confusing, time consuming, inconsistent workflow, and not to mention aggravating

SP be consistent. Make all plans set options the same.

You may change the building options anytime during the drawing process (as it should be).
You do have to RESET set the building options in the model before publishing each version of options.

Yes I do have it set before but would like to see both options in the plan set like we can with the floor plan.

Whats steps do you take to publish THREE different options?

Personally, I'd change the plans using the building options to generate different elevations, and produce three independent sets of drawings ... Option 1, Option 2 and Option 3

I'm not sure why you feel it necessary to change the building options on the planset rather than the drawing itself. Surely, if you're giving different elevations, your giving different plans to match them. Aren't you? You can't expect the contractor to build option 2 elevations from the plans for option 1.

Currently SoftPlan doesn't provide the ability to set the building options used for an annotated view on a planset page.  They always use the projects building options.

As Tom implied, this ability exists for floor plans and model views.

In this version, if you want to have annotated views from different building options, the best approach would be to do as Keith suggests and save the annotated views as drawings with the appropriate building option selected and then insert the results onto the planset pages.  The elevation drawings will not live update, but you will be able to get multiple building options configurations displaying in one planset.

Some times its a simple as showing the same front elevation but one with a gable and one with a hip roof. It’s nice to show both options on the same page and the floor plan doesn’t really change from one option to the other...

It's not that difficult to leave a 3D model or elevation open in the main window and turn on and off building options as you regenerate 3D views or elevations on your plan set page. Just place as many copies of an elevation as you need on your plan set and regenerate each one separately for which building options you want to show when the building options you want to show for that elevation are turned on. Then don't touch it again. I'm sure my explanation is clear as mud. It does take a little time, but not horrible compared to setting up several plan sets (which also isn't too bad if you use a template).

The problem is that annotated views on a plan set don't have the option to chose when to 'regenerate' like model view elevations or 3d views- it's always live. They need to add that control back along with the custom visibility. A global control to update all views on a page at once would be useful- along with individual control per view. It seems like being able to choose when to regenerate annotated elevations and sections would solve some of the lag problems- but I would leave the option to have them update on the fly as well.

Ah, that stinks you can't regenerate the annotated views. I have yet to do any annotated elevations. I have my system that has worked okay, but will have to try it out and see what I can do.
