How do i dimension the height of the building?

 

I searched high and low to find a dimension tool to work on an elevation to show overall height (height restrictions exist in all our sub-divisions) but I can't find one, not in cross sections either. Could not find anything in help files. I must have missed something with my old eyes.

If you have generated your 2D elevation you can use the Set Distance Between tool under the Dimension Tab.

In 3D you can use the Distance tool under the Dimension Tab.

I always explode the 2D elevations to be able to reference the drawing as individual lines.

To show the dimension you can add extensions and dimensions.  Attached example

Thank you, I did find that after i wrote this but it won't show the dimensions for the architectural design review on the printed plans. Anyway to accomplish that?

In 2D, you can use a line with snap activated to connect the line to the peak of the house. Then you can dimension from that line to the grade.

OK, thanks. The height must be done in the final elevation drawing as an exploded version. May be it could be made available to be done in the elevation tab while doing the concept drawing so we can adjust the roof pitch to match to highest we can design and build in a sub-division.
