I had started a new file in 2020 that was more import of ACAD drawings than starting new.  Surveyors field and office data was what I needed for a proposed site plan in order to design to this Surveyor information.

Having said all that...worked great including the layers for everything on the plats.  I changed all those layers into the Default Layer in SP.

There are 4 properties/plats involved under one folder name for the development.

What I thought I could do....into Project options/Layers; pull up project layers and change the layer names to reflect the items that needed to be culled out for both clarity as well as spotting items to conflict with the design.  About 10 different layers to turn on and off as the need called for.

I thought by going into project and replacing the Layer/Item Name with the ones that I wanted and save that I could afterwards go into each drawing's Drawing Options/layers and click on "Rest to Project" and the Drawing Layers would have changed to the new Project Option/Layers names.

Sounded like a good idea.<G

I test drove opening a NEW drawing and then pulling up Layers Setup under the Drawing Options....the new Layer Names were not into the new drawing either.
I am digging 2020!!  I can still remember those days of yor in SoftPlan's "salad days" wherein making small changes while drawing meant crossing some fingers and toes...sometimes covering your eyes until the drive quit churning so you can see what "went away" or the 4in pitch roof sent a hip rafter up and out for a few hundred feet back in the latter 1990's.
