need some help with the computer crashing while in softplan 2022. I have asked for help from tech support at softplan itself but get the same answer that windows 10 is fighting with softplan for control of the graphics driver and thats as much as i can get from anyone.

It's very annoying in not only the system shutting down and re-booting, it dosnt always restore the drawings to the last item edited or drawn. it also loses all the passwords and login info for every other program on the laptop ( iS-7300HQ CPU @2.50 GHz  16.0 GB, 64 bit

it seems if windows controls the driver it wants it causes softplan to have a fatal error and send a report to them. If i switch the driver to use the softplan suggested Nvida GS driver then windows crashes. there is no specific process in progress when either of these situations occur.

none of this happend with the old HP Inspirion which wasnt using windows 10 but had fallen off the desk once too often so upgraded and now its been an issue since

What are the graphics. Does it have onboard and dedicated graphics?

The GTX 1050 is a dedicated card.

In the 3D model, go to HELP > INFORMATION The RENDERER tab should shown what graphics are performing the render. It may say INTEL HD XXXXXX which is the onboard chip graphics.

Dedicated video memory=4021 MB

Dedicated system memory=0MB

Shared system memory=8123 MB

If I remember correctly, you have to go into the NVIDIA control panel and tell it that Softplan has to use the NVIDIA CARD.

3D window HELP > INFORMATION on my Machine give this:

Whether you have additional integrated graphics depends on your chipset. Typically INTEL CPU's also incliude integrated graphics. Again, typically AMD chipsets don't. If you have an AMD chipset you may only have one graphic choice so it may not even show up separately.

If your computer has two graphic options, it may be worth checking/forcing your machine to use the NVIDIA option for Softplan.

That's probably NVIDIA GeForce Experience, and it would be checking for updates.

You have to go to NVIDIA CONTROL PANEL.

Thanks Keith. so far so good. It would have crashed by now as this is the longest i have been able to draw without some sort of crash from either windows or softplan itself. I will send the info to Colin as he was trying to figure out what the problem was aswell
