I have a client who does not think the renderings are realistic enough and has hired an architect to try to work with my dwg files to create a more realistic rendering. The architecture firm reached out and asked if I could send the 3d Files..... I asked him if he meant the 3d material files and he wasn't sure. I know if they were using Softplan as well I could just send the whole project and they would also have it in 3d, but they do not use Softplan and have never heard of it. I guess I'm asking if there is a way to save the 3d drawing to send along with .dwg files?

While in 3d, maybe: export 3DS file or maybe export to Sketchup Model file. Send them the SketchUp file and if they complain try a different file.

You're render skills will improve and you learn the ways of SP. I've been doing this for years and still learning, I prefer illustrated mode over another.

Thank you!! I will try this. I've been using SP for 13 years and feel like I've barely scratched the surface. For reference, I attached the rendering I did for him. Short of doing a 3d Printed model, I don't know if anyone can give him what he wants but I'm trying to be as accommodating as I can.

I guess I should give myself a little more credit but I feel like a Newbie compared to a lot of the pros on here! I am ever so grateful for Softplan Forums; most of my questions/problems/etc are always already answered on here. Thanks so much for your help, Joseph!

I agree. I he wants better than that, he's going to have to pay big bucks for it. And it's probably going to have to be completely recreated in Revit or something like it.

You could export to Twinmotion or Lumion to get more realistic if that is all he wants. Ask around on the forum (lots of people have those programs and may be willing to work out a price for it). Or, you could maybe give enough of a price to offset the cost of Lumion for yourself.

I think Softplan can get that looking better, needs maybe some shadows and sun angles. I'm about to do some renders and try to get that really nice look, maybe I'll post a little,
not that I that good at it, but post sometimes make me learn,

Here is a rendering straight from SP using SP's path tracing...

Just curious... How "real" is the client looking for? And why?

I like the color scheme in this one:

I spent about 10 minutes with the render setting on this.
I've used Twin motion in the past to get more realism in the rendering but with this new SP path trace rendering, why bother?
Just by changing the depth of the board and batten profile in the gable roof, I was able to bring out more relief in the b&b:

Great job...That would look really nice in Lumion. Attached is WIP. These are straight out of Lumion...no post processing.
