Advice on the best practice.

 

Window 7'-8" header height (required) in a 9' wall.  Want 1' clearance above window pediment.  Frieze 1x8. Roof is 12/12, 2x8 rafter, 12" overhang (required). Heel height 8.1065", Seat cut 2.5".  Added a 1"-0" "knee" wall as an additional floor.  Roof raised on "knee wall".  Achieved desired clearance.  This is how we have stick framed this in the past, no truss. 

 

I this best practice or is there another simpler way to achieve same results?
