What is the best way to go about getting two different materials on a gable end. For instance, lap siding on the wall that goes up the gable about half way then the upper part of the gable would be b&b. I know I can do one material on the wall and another on the gable but I want the material transition a little higher than the plate line like the sketch attached.

I normally do it with a separate wall. Just Siding. Hidden in plan, and just slightly in front of the plan wall. Set height you want and fit to roof.

Isn’t there a way to edit transition height?

Edit the gable end roof edge and see attached. The "Height" is the distance from the peak to where the transition occurs.

Edit the wall and give it the desired height.
Edit the wall and select the Top of Wall tab. Select Clip to Roof to trim off the portions of the wall that are protruding through the roof.
Edit the gable and select Gable End Provided by Roof. Set the gable end to the desired material.

Doesn't adjusting the height upwards, leave a gap between the top of the wall and the gable end provided by roof? It seems to when I've used it.

No it does not leave a gap. It moves the transition between the 2 type of wall materials to the indicated "Height" from the peak.

Thank you ... I'll have to look at it again.
