I'll have to look at it in the morning. Was working on a big project in 2014 that I was afraid to open in 2016. What I get (when adjusting a floor joist, or box and zoomed in close) is thick black lines that prevent me from seeing where the edge of one object is compared to another. It makes it impossible to adjust things when something is just slightly off and won't snap to the other object.

i don't know how to set the thickness of the "highlight target surface" line

but if i'm understanding what your all talking about,

you can still "in 3d/softview" go to / options / setup option /

and CHECK  /  "highlight target surface"

or am i missing what this thread is about ?

Brian, That's probably normal, as a staircase with a landing edits as 3 separate sections of a whole stair.

Randy, that may be a different item. This is specific to Highlighting cursor objects. I think the 3D is slightly different. Although I could easily be wrong twice in the same thread.

I understand that but I have never had the lines super thick in 2014.  It would just highlight it.

while in 3d/softview

you can go to / OPTIONS / SETUP OTIONS

and check "highlight target surface"  to highlight the object

or

UNcheck it to turn it OFF.

or am i missing the gist of this thread ?

Different option Randy - That one only controls the 3D not the 2D. Keith Owens pointed out the correct setting in post #18.

Brian, its under the Options menu on the title bar, and puts you into the model options. You can get the same screen by pressing the spacebar in the 3D softview.

Here is what I am talking about. The 1st picture is zoomed in on some joists & beams. The next 2 are when I am selecting and adjusting the joist and beam. It gets really difficult to see what I am adjusting when the lines get lost in the highlight, especially when using the small cursor.Joist%20close%20up.JPG

Yeah, I tried that when I was grabbing pictures and it wouldn't turn off. Got it to turn off now though. Thanks!

So, I turned off the highlight thing in cursor options, but occasionally still get highlighted objects (especially when zoomed in). This is annoying!

I did see post 18 and I tried it both ways and its the same either on or off.  The super fat lines is extremely annoying when trying to move or edit.

i finally figured what you all were talking about,

i didn't even know we had that "highlight cursor" thing.

after i activated it,  the thick hightlight would "NOT" go away,

i had to create a NEW blank drawing and than

did a file / merge of the bad drawing into the merged drawing

and it went away.

moral of story > "DON'T" activate the cursor highlight thing"

I have never have seen these problems... so must be influenced by hardware or something ??

PLEASE let tech support know if you see the problems, so they can work on a fix...

I have been getting this on deck railings today.  It hightlights it completely solid. it is random though, it doesn't happen every time.
