Has anyone else had trouble with roofs not showing the fascia? I keep running into that issue with some roofs, like the attached stepped gable end...

 

Right now the fascia is showing at the left of the stepped gable, but sometimes I'll open the drawing back up and it will be gone. Also, it will grab one of the beams supporting the eave at the stepped gable and push it up even though I have clean-up unchecked and have it set where I want it. It is very time consuming and frustrating to rework a roof several times to try and get these parts to behave.

Here is another shot where it went away again. I have to constantly regenerate and fix the roof to get it back.

 

And, SP - if you are going to give us a shadow board and the options for different roof overhangs, you ought to make it actually work and render at the exact size specified?? Can anyone tell I'm frustrated?

Yeah, I've had that problem before.
Once on a simple rambler, fascia wouldn't show up on one side for anything. But then it somehow fixed itself, and I didn't have a problem again on it.
I have another plan that has a similar gable overhang to your project- the upper overhang extends past the main. Besides not showing the fascia, I had to just turn it off because it shooting off to infinity. That plan is really unique though.

They've made a great improvement on the shadow board and fascia alignment, but I'd really like to see more control. Like eave soffit height. This is a separate topic, but not being able to have accurate rafter tails is a big pain- having 2x12's stick out on an exposed eave looks ridiculous.

I agree. We ought to have way more control. I also want texture in my soffits to go the same direction at times, not miter around a corner. I use a ceiling in those cases, but shouldn't have to do so many workarounds that sometimes have issues of their own.

In my experience, workarounds generally cause something else to fail further down the road ...

I was looking at the ticket that you submitted on April 5th and it appears to be the same project? Did the fascia problem start after you sent the ticket and if so, what might have been done to cause the fascia to disappear?

I am not sure when I sent the ticket, but I did send one about the fascia. It started really causing problems when I added the stepped gable to the roof over the entry. I used match roof plane and that really threw things off. The answer I got from tech was to extend all of the overhang and then cut out what I don't want with holes. I've had mixed success with that method as well. And, with trying as much as possible to use "live" drawings for my plans, model, plan sets, that just doesn't look good with all sorts of extra lines all over the plan in roof mode. So, I keep fixing it everytime it disappears, which happens everytime I close and then open that project, as well as anytime I make any change to that roof. It also hijacks my beam for the left side (bottom) of the stepped gable and moves it. I cannot edit that beam to save my life, so I have to erase it and copy the one on the other side. Which is really annoying. Definite glitch in the system!
