For anyone using siding profiles, I figured out a little hack to get them to show up on live elevations (see attached picture). Our company uses illustrated mode primarily with some custom settings, but I could never get the profiles for B&B to show up or lap siding (I work with several other designers and they couldn't either). One way to get them to show up was to turn off "display silhouette", but then as you all know this makes the rest of the elevation look like garbage.
So a solution is to make any 90 deg angle or sharp angle on the profile into a mini bevel, and then you can see them on the live elevation. For my workflow, profiles are needed because I do 3D renderings and the profiles siding looks way better than any texture.
The trim profile in the picture is for insetting the window/door/osc trim. My wall definition siding thickness is 1", and the default trim is 3/4", so when I inset the trim the profile would stick out. Making a 1 1/4 trim profile fixed this.
Maybe someday Softplan will get this to work properly without having to use work arounds like this. ALSO, can we PLEASE get roof profiles someday? i.e. proper looking metal roofing. Currently I make my own metal roofs in Blender after I export the Softplan model .fbx
Hope this helps and have a great day!
