When creating a 3d animation, how do you insert your logo...or do you? My thoughts are, I would like it to appear at the beginning and the end.

Use a video editor, such as Adobe Premiere (there are also free ones available) and add it there.  Every program works a little different.

We have done this to not only add a logo but to break up the animation into shorter clips.  People seem to like the shorter clips with some transitions than to have one long animation.

Advice on "free ones"?

 

I'm currently using SketchUp Pro trial with 11 days left, but it's only for enhancing 3d and model creation and doesn't provide video modification, does it?

Sketchup does not provide the ability to modify video.

A few of the free video editors available are:

   Blender (actually a 3d modeling and rendering program but also has video editing tools)

   Lightworks

   Shotcut

 

If you do a google search for any of these you will get a link to the website where you can download them.
